to novato show the thickest fog at the reporting stations. down to a quarter-mile visibility in novato with fog along the east bay shore but it is not hitting the reporting stations. if you are on 13 this morning you are going to get foggy at some point in time. that is our big story for the morning. the patchy fog and the temperatures are cooler than yesterday and mid-40's to around 50. by noon, most of us are dealing with sunshine and a few left over clouds and temperatures are hang out in the low-to-mid 50's away from the coast. as you head to 4:00, watch out for the sunshine if you are outside today, sunscreen could be needed and brighter and warmer and mid-to-upper 60's and by 7:00, back in the low 60's. increasing clouds but warmer tomorrow and the rain comes in especially for thursday's commute a quick hitter and by friday we are dry and warming again headed into the weekend. how about some traffic? >> leyla gulen is known as chopped liver because i am not italian. good morning, everyone, right now, this is san jose, 280 freeway is looking clear so we have no problems to

after a fiery freeway crash in novato. tonight, the connector ramp from northbound highway 101 to eastbound highway 37 has re-opened. but not before kron four's philippe djegal reports -- speed played in a role in a person's death. >> reporter: this charred honda sedan burst into flames at around 6-45 in the evening. after the california highway patrol says the driver. traveling at a high rate of speed in the fast lane of northbound highway 101 in novato. cut across all four lanes of traffic to get onto eastbound highway 37. investigators say the car flipped several times. >> it crossed the border point. where it traveled on to the dirt portion of the shoulder and struck the bridge of 37 overpass. >> reporter: before landing in the ditch. then, the car and driver caught fire. the driver was the only person involved in the crash. the chp says that person won't be identified until the autopsy is completed. the number four lane of highway 101 was closed briefly after the accident, then re-opened. eastbound 37 at 101 was shutdown for close to three hours. at this time, the california

and one spot is just to say, south of novato, between novato and san rafael where 101 and 37 come together. we have a hot spot near the airport south san francisco and san bruno and near piedmont so we have light-to-moderate rain and the heaviest rain moved through but the band on the left side of the screen, that is moving toward the north bay. expect it to be wet for the next three to four hours. we will have a chance of scattered showers this afternoon. the heaviest rain is falling right now. the traffic is from leyla gulen. >> a rainy thursday or friday eve. this is the drive along the san mateo bridge. we have a report of an accident westbound hitting the decline, a solo vehicle spinout. we have a lane blocked but no delays right now. reduce the speed on a day like this. day in the center lane because the outer lanes pool. we have areas of flooding. the golden gate bridge is very wet. it could be slippery. we have green and blue. the blue areas are the heaviest rain but we have flooding along southbound 101. watch out for a foot of standing water in those lanes. katie marzull

should move into the novato area in about 15 minutes. fremont seeing the rain as is hayward. speaking of rain, did we get a lot of it and much needed rainfall. close to half an inch in san francisco. ben lomond close to half an inch. half an inch in mount st. helena. we'll take a look at the forecast coming up. >> ama: viewers have been sending in photos. this is sent from vallejo and even hail came down there today. sebastopol was hit with hail, thunder and lightning today. send your photos to ureport. >>> developing news now, all lanes of interstate 80 just reopened about 15 minutes ago after a tour bus fire. it started around 7:00 p.m. vallejo east of the east parkway exit. chp believes it was an engine fire. those flames spread from the bus to brush and then to an adjacent apartment building and trailer park where mobile home park. both were evacuated. no word how badly the flames damaged homes. bus driver suffered smoke inhalation. chp says it doesn't appear there were any passengers on the bus at the time of the fire. we have a crew on the scene and live update tonight

developing along the east bay shoreline and, also, into the north bay. novato is reporting .16 mile visibility and half mile in santa rosa. right now the thickest fog is along the east bay shore is not hitting the reporting stations with those along the bay shore but it will filter down to those areas. watch out for fog through 7:00. temperatures in the mid-40's to around 50. we will see increasing sunshine by noon. we will have high clouds and sunshine this afternoon. we will be brighter and remain warmer than yesterday with mid-50's at the coast and mid-to-upper 60's for the rest and a quiet evening with high clouds and sunshine again and 50 for the cool spot and upper 50's to low 60's for bay and inland neighborhood. tomorrow is the warm of the day, increasing clouds ahead of our wet system for thursday morning. it will be a quick hit because by friday it is gone with increasing sunshine once again. time for a check of the commute. leyla gulen? >> the drive along 101 through san rafael into central san rafael we have clear conditions and closer to 580 and sir francis drake we hav

flight arrival delays. we are gusting to 23 in san jose and 21 in novato and 17 in livermore and everyone else is ten or below. the big story is the breezes headed into the afternoon and the winds along with the cooler conditions. it will be sunny with mid-50's along the coast and upper 50's to low 60's around the bay and low-to-mid 60's inland. moving forward, today is the code of the day in the forecast and we will get back to where we are supposed to be tomorrow, above average if wednesday and especially as we head to thursday with 80's inland and 60 at the coast. now the monday morning commute. traffic is not too taxing so far as we look at oakland area. we have construction this morning, and the northbound 880, 23s are avenue off ranch will be shut down until 6:00 a.m. with slowing there and volume moving past that area of construction and evening else is pretty clear as we look at the drive through marin, the commute down 101 headed into central san rafael the drive is not seeing any problems so you will be taking a quick drive into sauce least and over the golden gate. >>

thickest in the north bay valleys, three quarters mile visibility in santa rosa down 101 to novato so, 12, 116, 29, all have fog this morning. headed to half moon bay we have thick fog along the coast. in the afternoon, though, the low clouds lit with mostly cloudy conditions because of the mid-level clouds ahead of the system. it is also bringing a bump up in temperatures and it will be mild from the coast to our inland neighborhoods. steady rain for the commute tomorrow and a chance of rain moves to the north saturday and sunday. it is a small chance but the north bay could get a sprinkle saturday and sunday. the cloud cover shows at 5:00 this morning, notice how it just sits until, say, 10:00, and we start to see it evaporate inland. stubborn around the bay by noon and the low clouds are gone back to the coast and by 3:00 that is when the high and mid-level clouds come in. the 60's and 70's and today is the warmest day in the forecast with low-to-mid 60's along the coast in san francisco and upper 60's to mid-70's around the bay from richmond at 68 to 73 at fremont and palo alto an

numbers. five degrees cooler than 24 ago in novato. a few degrees warmer in mountain view and san jose. high pressure offshore. it's nudging slightly eastward into california. as it does, that allows for the down-sloping winds, the quick warmup. in fact, more warmth to continue today, tomorrow and perhaps for portions of our viewing area on tuesday. 88 in los gatos, with 85 in sunnyvale. look for mid-60s from pacifica. san francisco and low 70 once again. north bay highs range from the 6 0s. as you head inland, low month mid-80s. near east bay, 77. that's what you hit yesterday. still more warmth as you go further east from castro valley and heading on inland look for the upper 80s. pittsburgh, 84 pleasanton and livermore 86 degrees. so we are looking at temperatures to approach the 90-degree reading. you know, those 90s would be secure today. we aren't looking at that for today but tomorrow and tuesday records could be broken in parts of the east bay, the peninsula. so we have to see what happens. breeze kicks up on tuesday and then the coastal clouds return the end of the week.
